Poetry Competition Winner
02 May 2010
The winning entry was received by Kieran Doherty of St Eunans
Primary School. He read his poem on the air on Your Radio before
sounding the Titan horn to singal th opening for 2010. Kieran,
along with his family and classmates who were runners up in the
competition then enjoyed a tour of the historical site, before
taking a free RIB ride along the river. Kieran's mature and
insightful poem is below:
The Titan Crane
The Titan Crane stands firm inside the ground.
It's quiet, too quiet, you can't hear a sound.
This tower is mighty yet no-one understands its powerful
magnificence,
This crane once made history and brought victory to us all.
And now,
A shipyard long lost, left to the tourists.
By Kieran Doherty, St Eunans Primary School.
Congratulations also go to:
Christopher Brooks, Paige Keating, Katey Lynch, Iqraa Rafi,
Natasha Cooney, Brendan Bean and Ryan Carson who were all runners
up in the competition and received a Titan goody bag.
