Former Heritage Guide nominated for a Scottish BAFTA
22 Mar 2010
Locally based film maker and former Heritage Guide, Douglas
King, recently celebrated receiving a nomination for a Scottish
BAFTA in the New Talent Awards 2010. This six minute short film
entitled "A Good Mate" was filmed inside his high rise flat in
Clydebank and was nominated for the category of "Best Acting
Performance." The film was up against the likes of the BBC's River
City and three others.
Douglas, along with his friend and business partner Darren
Osbourne set up their business 14c Studios late last year,
following a successful summer as a Heritage Gudie at the Titan
Crane. He fondly describes his time at the Titan as, "A great
experience. I learned a lot about the shipbuilding industry and met
loads of interesting people. I am currently working on a
reminiscence film which celebrates the workers of John Brown's
shipyard."
Starting a new business in the current economic climate could be
seen as risky, but these two local professionals, it seems to have
paid off.
